Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine differences of respect for
teachers reviewed from permissive and democratic parenting in class X of
Muhammadiyah 1 Moyudan Vocational School, Sleman Yogyakarta, with a
total subject 151 students.
This study used quantitative research methods, the measuring
instrument data collection used Teachers Respect Scale (Skala Menghormati
Guru / SMG) and identification of parenting style using the Scale Parental
Authority Questionnaire (PAQ). Data analyzed by Mann Whitney U Test
technique and calculated using SPSS 17.00 for windows.
Based on the result of hypothesis testing, it is known that p <0.01 with
very significant result. Furthermore, if the hypothesis is accepted, then to find
out the group that has a higher value by comparing mean rank between
groups, from the results of the above analysis it is known that the directed
hypothesis has differences in respect for teachers in terms of permissive and
democratic parenting, democratic parenting has more respect for teachers
high compared to permissive parenting with a value of Z = -3.302 with a value
of p = 0.001.
The conclusion of this study is that there are significant differences in
respecting teachers in terms of permissive and democratic parenting so that
the hypothesis can be accepted, democratic parenting has a higher teacher
respect than permissive parenting.
