Abstract
Abstract
The “Raden Paku” act from the “Walisanga” puppet theatre, which was per-
formed as an Islamic nuanced public entertainment during the celebration night of the
Muktamar Muhammadiyah conference last year, was the synergy evidence be-
tween puppet as a kind of performing arts, and Islamic religion. In regard to the Islamic
puppet performance, Muhammadiyah organization has currently increased its demo-
cratic attitude toward artistic expression in order to give a wider space for artists and
community in implementing the Islamic verdict Amar makruf (enjoins all that Islam
has ordained) and Nahi munkar (hinders all that Islam has forbidden).” Although
every puppet art’s elements reflected the greatness of Islam as a blessing on universe,
this Islamic puppet show has been arranged to implement special form of characteris-
tics. The effort has produced a unique performance compared to other ordinary proto-
type mediums such as Leather puppet, the gedong puppet, and the wayang wong
(dance-theatre puppet). In such effort every single performance elements of the Raden
Paku act, including the story, puppet dolls, and costumes, have been fitted to Islamic
values based on the Qur’an and the Hadits.

Abstrak
Wayang “Walisanga” dengan lakon “Raden Paku” yang disajikan sebagai
hiburan bernuansa Islam pada saat perayaan Muktamar Muhammadiyah
tahun ini adalah saksi terdapatnya suatu sinergi di antara seni dan
agama, dalam hal ini adalah wayang dan Islam. Dalam hal kesenian
wayang, kini Muhammadiyah telah meningkatkan sikap demokratisnya
terhadap expresi artistik dalam rangka memberikan kesempatan kepada para seniman dan masyarakat untuk melakukan perintah amar ma’aruf
nahi munkar. Tentu saja berbagai elemen wayang merefleksikan kebesaran
Islam sebagai rahmat bagi alam semesta. Penyajian wayang ini dirancang
untuk mewujudkan karakteristik bentuk khusus penyajian yang berbeda
dari pertunjukan wayang lain seperti prototip medium wayang kulit,
wayang gedong, dan wayang orang. Setiap elemen dari penyajian
wayang, seperti di antaranya ceritera, boneka wayang, dan kostum,
terkait dengan nilai-nilai Islam yang berasal dari Al Qur’an dan Al Hadits.
