Abstract

Economic development in general is very influential on various advances that occur
in the fields of technology, industry, economy and trade that have produced various
forms of goods and / or services that have been used by the public. The government
plays an important role in efforts to protect consumers, namely conducting
supervision and coaching. The purpose of this study is to find out; (i) existing
regulations in Bantul Regency in protecting consumers (ii) the role of the Bantul
Regency Trade Office in protecting consumers.
This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data used are primary data and
secondary data in the form of primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. Primary
data collection methods by interview, while secondary data with documents collected
and reviewed to answer the problems in the research studied.
The results showed that the existing regulations in Bantul Regency in protecting
consumers have protected consumers and businesses with several trade laws and
regulations in Bantul Regency. The role of the Bantul Regency Trade Office in
protecting consumers has been carried out optimally through the role of supervision
and coaching. Some supervision and guidance carried out by the Bantul Regency
Trade Office are licensing and organizing public markets, supermarkets, shopping
centers and alcoholic beverage supervision.
