Abstract

Hypertension is one of the diseases that cause high pain. Basic health research
in 2013 places Special Region of Yogyakarta as the thrid order number of hypertension
cases in Indonesia based on diagnosis or/and taking medication this study aimed to
find out the accuracy of hypertension drugs selection of elderly patient in Puskesmas
Kotagede II Special Region of Yogyakarta in 24 October 2017 – 24 January 2018
period.
This study was observational by cross sectional approach which is described
descriptively by collecting data concurrently. The subject of this research was the
elderly patients of hypertension who were doing treatment in Puskesmas Kotagede II by
the criteria of elderly patients’ inclusion ≥60 years old who are mainly diagnosed as
hypertension. They have complete data (name, patient, age, gender, complication,

diagnose, symptoms, dose and frequency). An exclusive criterion was medical records
which are not readable clearly. The data was obtained from patient’s medical record.
Accuracy evaluation in hypertension drugs selection of elderly was done based on JNC
VIII standard.
Parameters determining the result of the study based on accurate indication,
accurate drugs and accurate dose. The result of the study shown that from 68 patients,
accuracy of hypertension drugs selection of elderly patients based on accurate
indication of 100%, accurate drugs of 100%, and accurate dose of 100%.
From the results of the study, it can be concluded that hypertension drugs
selection of elderly patient in Puskesmas Kotagede II was 100% accurate.
