Abstract
The aim of this research was to explain the duty and authority of General Election Commission (KPU) of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta in increasing the electors’ participation on general election of 2009 – 2019, to find out what factors influencing the level of electors’ participation of general election in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
The type of research used was descriptive. Descriptive research aimed to give the description clearly and exactly by collecting data, arranging, clarification and analyzing to solve the problem. Subject of this research was General Election Commission of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The object of this research was the duty and authority of the general election commission to increasing the electors’ participation in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
Based on the research done, it can be conclude that in the implementation of general election of 2009-2019 the electors’ participation increase because of the society are actively involved in general election success by following the programs from General Election Commission of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). DIY government also helps in the implementation of general election by making socialization with General Election Commission as the speaker.
