Abstract

This study aimed to obtain a comprehensive understanding about the self-acceptance in adolescents whose parents are divorced and the factors that influence it. Participans of this research are two teenagers whose parents divorced.
The reseach used qualititative method and the data obtain obtained by an interview with the paticipants and involved two significant person as the data source triangulation. With the criteria of a subject who has a family with a divorced parent for at least two years. And subject aged 17 to 21 years old, both students and already working.
The results showed that the self-acceptance in adolescent whose parent divorced could be seen in several aspects. From the aspect of willingness, parent’s dovorce considered as something unpleasant but not as a burden, and instead become motivation o lesson to be learned. There were able to accept their parent’s decision, their current condition and the different interaction with their parents after divorce. The participants are very selective in telling privacy with people who have a special closeness but they can be open to other person regarding their condition. The psychological health aspect could be seen in the attitude of mutual support between family members on various occasion. Reseach subjects are happy with current family conditions. From the acceptance aspect of other people, showed that the subject feels accepted by the environment so that he can get along well and be open in relationships and have many communities.
Factors that influence self-acceptance in adolescents whose parents are divorced consist of internal factors and external factors. Internal factors including self-understanding factors, realistic expectations, emotional pressure, self-perspective and stable self-concept. External factors include a freedom from environmental barries, enviromental attitudes, frequency of succes, and identification towards behavior exhibited by the people with good adjustment that perceived as a role model and training in childhood.
