Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between independence and parental social support with self-regulated learning of students in State Vocational High School 5 Yogyakarta. The study applied quantitative method using self-regulated learning scales, namely independence and social support scales. The study was conducted in grade XI of State Vocational High School 5 Yogyakarta involving 101 subjects. The data were analyzed by multiple regression analysis technique. Based on the results of the major hypothesis test, it showed that the relationship between independence and parental social support with self-regulated learning was very significant with a value of R = 0.520 and p = 0.000 (p <0.01). Meanwhile, based on the minor hypothesis test, independence and self-regulated learning had a very significant positive relationship with a correlation value of 0.342 and a significance level of p = 0.001 (p <0.01) with an effective contribution of 13.93%. The results of the hypothesis test showed a correlation value of 0.330 with a significance level of p = 0.001 (p <0.01) and an effective contribution of 13.09%. It indicated that there is a very significant positive relationship between parental social support and self-regulated learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that independence and parental social support affect self-regulated learning. The relationship between independence and self-regulated learning is very significant. Furthermore, there is a very significant positive relationship between parental social support and self-regulated learning of students in State Vocational High School 5 Yogyakarta.
