Abstract

This study attempts to analyze nonverbal communication strategies in Li Tu Tu dance movements. The purpose of this research is to find out the description of non verbal communication strategies created by choreographers to be conveyed by the audience. This research is expected to be able to add references to further research that has the same theme and is expected to be useful for practitioners in applying symbols that are able to make the understanding of non verbal communication created easy to understand.
Dance is a communication medium that is conveyed by artists to the public. A dance work has a background and message to be conveyed by the stylist whose purpose is to be conveyed or then get feedback from the audience as connoisseurs and to the dancers as performers. So, in this case dance functions as a communication medium. The theoretical framework in this study are theories about non verbal communication and communication strategies. The research method used in this case study research, which categories in the type of qualitative description.
The results of this study indicate that the non verbal communication used was created using a communication strategy used by a choreographer in creating the desired dance work, such as the use of gestures, uniform clothing and eye contact to be applied in the dance work created. In this study, researchers provide suggestions, so that the use of non verbal language that is easily understood by the audience so that the message to be conveyed properly.
