Abstract
This research aims at improving the reading comprehension skill using SQ3R method on fourth grade of Kotagede 3 Elementary School. The type of this research was collaborative classroom action research. The subjects in this research were 32 fourth grade students of Kotagede 3 Elementary School. The design used Kemmis dan Mc. Taggarts’s. the data collection in this research was through the test and observation. The analysis data used in this reseach were quantitative descriptive and qualitative descriptive. The research shows that the SQ3R method can improve the reading comprehension skill of fourth grade students at Kotagede 3 Elementary School. It can be seen from the improvement of learning process and the improvement of the reading comprehension test results. The result of the test shows that the pretest average score is 62,6% with student’s pretest completeness percentage is 15,6% increases to 68,78 with completeness precentage 59,4% in the end of cycle I. the students’ average score in cycle II is 76,8 with completeness percentage 100%.
