Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effect of OCF to the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 2
Wonosari, Gunungkidul to their speaking performance in the classroom, and to describe the
students’ perception toward the effect of OCF that was given by their teacher in the classroom.
This research is a descriptive-qualitative research. Involving 60 students at the ten grade in SMA
Negeri 2 Wonosari, Gunungkidul at the three classes such as, science class, social class, and
language class which represents the type of the class or program at SMA Negeri 2 Wonosari,
Gunungkidul in the academic year of 2018/2019. This study used observation, questionnaire, and
semi-structure interview for the data collection techniques. The observation showed the situation
of space,actor, and activity in the class. The questionnaire revealed about the students’ feeling or
perception about the oral corrective feedback that was given by their teacher in the classroom
which was then and the analyzed using the descriptive statistics. Meanwhile the interview involved
six students and it analyzed using a qualitative method.
The research, found that most of the students sampling have a positive or good
perception about the oral corrective feedback that they were received from their teacher.
According to their statement, they feel satisfied when they received an oral corrective feedback,
because with that, they can repair and improve their speaking skills especially in pronunciation,
grammar, vocabulary, and it can also it can make them feel more confident to speak or to perform
something in front of the class.
