Abstract

An investigation has been perfomed to study the effect of piperine pre-treatment on elimination of salicylamine in the rat Twelve male Sprague-Dawley rats with 200-300 g body weight were devided into twelve 2 groups. The first group were given a single dose of salicylamide (50mg/kgBW; ip). The second group received pipenne (40 mg/kgBW; po) an hour beforehand and treated identically as the first group. Following the drugs administration, venous blood samples were withdrawn serially on certain minutes for spectrofluorometric analysis on salicylamide with Bar and Riegelman modified method. The elimination parameters of salicylamide were estimated using CPL-2 software. From the estimation result both of groups were compared using Benferroni test. The result showed that the pre-treatment of piperine decreased clearance value of salicylamide (p<0.05), without after elimination rate constant (p>0.05).
