Abstract
The aim of this research is to know whether the understanding of Islamic law will influence psychological conditions of the adolescents offending criminal law who stay in Kutoarjo prison. This study compares young adult sexual delinquents and violent offenders via relevant psychological variables of two main areas: (i) anti-social personality factors (aggression), and (ii) predisposing personality factors (religiousness, by improving subjects understanding of Islamic law). Participants are 30 violent and sexual offenders between 12 and 18 years of age. They were incarcerated in a Kutoarjo youth prison and interviewed during their prison term. The subjects were gathered in special place in prison. The teaching of islamic law was delivered orally. Test was used to know the psychological factor's different before and after islamic law teaching. Result: There was significant different of the psychological condition before and after intervention the youth showed significantly (p=0,001) lowering impact of negative emotions.
