Abstract
Mosque revitalization is one of the prioroties of Muhammadiyah programs since 2010. This study elaborates the program of Garbage Charity as a part of Empowering Mosque Community particularly in the aspects of belief, religious pratice, volunteerism. This program will be analyzed incorporating Social capital theory (Putnam, 2001) consisting norms, trust and networks in relation with the Mosque community norms, and how to develop it, build the networks and the trust among the Jamaah with the innovative program-Garbage donation and its implication. This garbage donation program since its beginning in 2013 has been replicated, modified and implemented in around central Java, West Java and a broader areas nation wide and international. Besides the garbage donation, the community is also exposed to harvest the rain and make wells for absorbing the rest of ablution water used by mosque communities. the last two programs become steps to eco-mosque. As a result, this Garbage donation can empower Mosque communities, make them believe that donating the garbage is a part of piety, a rewarded action, beneficiel, and is environmentally friendly.
