Abstract
One of the efforts to look for alternative fuel that renewable and friendly environment is making biodiesel. Optimization process is beginning step to construct and operate commercial biodiesel plant. This research aims to look for optimum condition for biodiesel production from coconut oil and ethanol with reaction temperature and sodium hydroxide (catalyst) concentration as variable process. The reaction was carried out in a three neck round bottom flask equipped with a motor stirrer and thermometer. The result of optimum conditions are: reaction temperature of 48,88 C and catalyst concentration of 0.6972%. biodiesel that produced fulfil quality standard of biodiesel.
