Abstract

Background: COVID-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 which has spread worldwide,
the trend of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has decreased but COVID-19 has not disappeared
completely so that to overcome COVID-19, herd immunity is needed which can be achieved if
70% of the community has vaccinated COVID-19, the elderly are a priority getting vaccines
because at risk of being infected with COVID-19, Based on observations that have been made,
it is found that the achievement of COVID-19 booster vaccination in the elderly in the Natai
Palingkau Health Center working area is still low is only 17.4%. The purpose of this study was
to determine the factors associated with the status of COVID-19 booster vaccination in the
elderly at the Natai Palingkau Public Health Center, West Kotawaringin Regency in 2024.
Method: A quantitative study, cross-sectional method and health belief model theoretical. The
sampling method used proportional random sampling, and the total sample was 114 elderly
people. The statistical test used was the chi-square test. Results: Factors associated with
COVID-19 booster vaccination status in older adults included perceived susceptibility (p=0.000
and PR=1.537), perceived severity (p=0.000 and PR=1.520) and perceived benefit (p=0.000
and PR =1.484), perceived barriers (p=0.000 and PR=6.039), motivation to action (p=0.001
and PR=1.432) and self-efficacy (p=0.000 and PR=1.554). Conclusion: All components of
health belief model were significantly associated with booster vaccination status, but health
workers need to inform older adults about the side effects and importance of booster
vaccination COVID-19
