Abstract

Strengthening the moral side (morality) is required as a real filter to keep the nation from the devastation of the demoralization growth in society. One of substantial foundations for the formation of a civilized and prosperous society is the inculcation of moral values for children in forming good character. The character formation becoming one of the goals of the National Education. In Education Law 2003 states that among the national education goals is developing the potential of learners/children to have great intelligence, personality and noble character. In Javanese culture, there are lots of moral values and culture that can be learned such as inculcating the habit of using "Krama Inggil" in conversation to respect the older people or eldest and using "Ngoko" to speak with peers. Besides, there are also dances, tembang (song), dolanan (traditional children games) which are full of meaning in the form of moral values. The moral values above promulgate; honesty, discipline, responsibility, fairness, cooperation, caring. Those values can be instilled in children through the integration of subjects, school culture, as well as in self-development activities. Teachers as a spearhead in the success of of the nation's character construction are demanded to be more creative and innovative through various innovative methods in inculcating character at school. Hopefully, the moral values which are embodied in Javanese culture and taught through dances, tembang (song), dolanan (traditional children games), language will be internalized to the child. At the end, the school as the second home must be able to provide a space for children in developing the values of the nation’s character.
