Abstract

Hypertension is one of the chronic diseases which need long duration of treatment. Treatment’s effect due to the long duration of therapy may affect patients’ quality of life. The study objective was to measure hypertension
patients’ quality of life using EQ-5D and SF-6D in X Hospital of Yogyakarta.This study used observational design with the 67 hypertension patients as in the outpatient clinic. Indonesian version of EQ-5D and SF-6D
were used to measure and to evaluate the quality of life of hypertension patients. Data was statistically analyzed by Mann-Whitney tests. The study showed the significant differences (p <0.05) between EQ-5D and SF-6D in the
domain of self care and physical function (1.04 and 2.94, respectively); domain of pain (1.72 and 3.37, respectively) and domain of usual activity (1.22 and
2.79, respectively). However, there is no significant difference of mental health domain between EQ-5D and SF-6D (1.34 and 1.59, respectively). These findings indicate that there were significant differences of quality of life domains measurement using EQ-5D and SF-6D. The average value of the quality of life on the questionnaire EQ-5D is 0.81 and SF-6D is 0.69 . We conclude that there
are differences among all the domains of quality of life of hypertension patients in Hospital X of Yogyakarta measured by the EQ-5D and SF-6D questionnaire except for mental health domain.
