Abstract

Electronic health referrals have become a significant innovation in global healthcare, with various countries adopting these systems to enhance the efficiency and quality of healthcare services. This study employs a literature review method using a narrative review design, utilizing nine articles that met quality assessment criteria. Data were sourced from Google Scholar and PubMed, with articles published between 2019 and 2023. The results of this study indicate that healthcare facilities have successfully implemented electronic referral systems (SISRUTE) and electronic referral systems in general. However, challenges such as response delays, a lack of trained human resources, and suboptimal technology infrastructure still need to be addressed. Electronic referral systems in various hospitals and other healthcare systems have significant potential to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of referral services. The success of electronic referral systems largely depends on the readiness of hospitals and adequate policy support. This study also emphasizes the importance of continuous evaluation and system adjustments based on feedback and field conditions to ensure the long-term sustainability and success of electronic referral systems.
