Abstract
Background: Everyone has the right to food, including the right to safe and nutritious food. Foodborne diseases are diseases caused by food contamination and result from errors in food handling by the seller. Vegetable selling places are related to food management, especially the selection and storage of food in accordance with food sanitation and hygiene guidelines. Knowledge, attitude, length of business, and health worker supervision can all have an impact on seller behavior. This study aims to identify factors that will be associated with the management of food components in vegetable selling places in Umbulharjo District. Method: Cross-sectional method and quantitative, observational analysis technique were used in this type of research. There were thirty-four vegetable stall sellers in Umbulharjo Sub-district, who became the research sample. Total sampling was the technique used in sampling. Questionnaires and observation sheets were the tools used. Fisher's alternative test and chi-square statistical test were used in univariate and bivariate data analysis. Result: The statistical test results of this study on 34 vegetable stall sellers showed that 28 sellers had good knowledge (82.4%), 17 sellers had a positive attitude (50%), 19 sellers had been in business for more than 5 years (55.9%), 25 stalls did not have supervision by health workers (73.5%), and 21 sellers had good food management behavior (61.8%). There was no relationship between knowledge (p=0.370), attitude (p=0.290), length of business (p=0.601), health worker supervision (p=1.000) with food management. Conclusion: There is no relationship between knowledge, attitude, length of business, supervision of health workers with the management of food sold in vegetable stalls in the Umbulharjo Kapanewon area.
