Abstract

Abstrak
Penelitian ini mengkaji gangguan depresi yang meliputi gejala depresi serta faktor penyebabnya yang dialami oleh tokoh utama dalam novel "Beatrice" karya Husain Jasim. Penelitian ini menerapkan teori Aron T. Beck dalam menganalisis gejala depresi dan menggunakan teori Abraham Maslow dalam menganalisis faktor penyebab depresi. Obyek material penelitian ini adalah novel yang berjudul "Beatrice" karya Husain Jasim. Adapun obyek formalnya adalah tokoh utama dalam novel yakni Mateo dan Beatrice beserta peristiwa-peristiwa yang berkaitan dengan gangguan depresi.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan analisa psikologi sastra yang menggambarkan peristiwa-peristiwa depresi yang terjadi dengan pengumpulan data Library Research yakni pengumpulan data melalui sumber-sember kepustakaan.
Hasil penelitian terhadap gangguan depresi dalam novel "Beatrice" menunjukkan: Pertama, peristiwa yang mendeskripsikan gejala depresi yang dialami tokoh Beatrice ditandai dengan gejala emosional berupa kesedihan, hilangnya respon gembira, dan meningkatnya frekuensi menangis. Tokoh utama Mateo ditandai dengan gejala emosional berupa kesedihan, hilangnya keterikatan emosi, dan hilangnya respon gembira. Gejala kognitif tokoh Beatrice berupa harga diri rendah dan menyalahkan diri sendiri sedangkan gejala kognitif pada tokoh Mateo berupa harga diri rendah dan harapan negatif. Gejala motivasional pada tokoh Beatrice berupa penghindaran, kehilangan motivasi, dan ketergantungan, sedangkan gejala motivasional pada tokoh Mateo berupa penghindaran. Gejala fisik pada tokoh Beatrice berupa kelelahan, halusinasi, dan kehilangan selera makan, sdangkan gejala fisik pada tokoh Mateo berupa halusinasi.
Abstract
This research examines depression disorders, which include the symptoms of depression and the causal factors experienced by the main character in the novel "Beatrice" by Husain Jasim. This research applies Aaron T. Beck's theory in analyzing symptoms of depression and uses Abraham Maslow's theory in analyzing the factors causing depression. The material object of this research is the novel entitled "Beatrice" by Husain Jasim. The formal object is the novel's main characters, Mateo and Beatrice, and the events related to depressive disorders.
This research uses qualitative descriptive methods and psychological analysis of literature, which describes depressive events that occur using Library Research data collection, namely data collection through library sources.
The result of the research on depressive disorders in the novel "Beatrice" show: First, the events that describe the symptoms of depression experienced by the main character, Beatrice, are characterized by emotional symptoms in the form of sadness, loss of happy responses, and increased frequency of crying. The main character, Mateo, is characterized by emotional symptoms of sadness, loss of emotional attachment, and loss of joyful responses. The cognitive symptoms of the Beatrice character are low self-esteem and self-blame, while the cognitive symptoms of the Mateo character are low self-esteem and negative expectations. The motivational symptoms in the character Beatrice are avoidance, loss of motivation, and dependence, while the motivational symptoms in the character Mateo are avoidance. The physical symptoms of Beatrice's character include fatigue, hallucinations, and loss of appetite, while the physical symptoms of Mateo's character are hallucinations. Second, a portrait of the events that caused the depressive disorder experienced by the main character, namely the unfulfillment of basic human needs in the form of basic need, safety needs, love and belongingness needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs.
