Abstract
Grammarly become one of the most popular automated writing evaluation programs for learners in the 21st century. This study aimed to explore students' perceptions of using the Grammarly application to improve writing skills and the improved aspects of academic writing by Grammarly.
A qualitative method was employed for the research, conducted in the English Education Study Program at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Interviews were used as data instruments to collect the data. The subjects of this study were 5 students in the fifth semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at the English Education Study program, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Data analysis techniques by Matthew B Milles (1994), including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, were used.
The findings revealed that the students agreed that Grammarly was an effective tool for correcting their academic writing. Not only that, the students also believed that Grammarly boosted their confidence in writing. The students were also of the opinion that Grammarly was easy to use and only took a few minutes to learn. The results of this study have implications for teachers, students, and other researchers.
