Abstract

Background: Adolescence is the stage of puberty which can be said to be sexually and reproductively mature. Currently, many teenagers are involved in cases of risky premarital sexual behavior. This behavior can lead to unwanted pregnancies and abortions. According to data from the High Religious Court in 2020, the general marriage dispensations in the Special Region of Yogyakarta occurred due to unwanted pregnancies, with Sleman Regency contributing the highest number of cases, namely 343 cases of unwanted pregnancies. Karang Taruna X is an outstanding youth organization located in Sleman Regency. However, according to the results of a preliminary study, it was found that there were cases of premarital sexual behavior at risk of unwanted pregnancy experienced by teenagers from Karang Taruna X. Method: This research used a qualitative design with a case study approach. The primary informants in this study were six people obtained using snowball sampling techniques. The data collection technique is in-depth interviews. The data analysis stage uses thematic analysis. The instrument in this research is an interview guide. Results: Four out of six informants who had premarital sexual behavior and intimate relationships had experienced unwanted pregnancies, and three out of six informants carried out abortions on purpose. Sexual behavior before marriage at risk of unwanted pregnancy can occur due to attitudes, exposure to information media, parents, and peers, but each informant has different strengths of effect. Conclusion: Risky premarital sexual behavior among Karang Taruna Of the six primary informants, the influence of peers and exposure to information media are the strongest determinants for teenagers to engage in risky premarital sexual behavior.
