Abstract

Background: The implementation of the marital age maturity program has had a positive impact on the Z generation in Indonesia. However, this generation is also
currently facing the threat of premarital sexual behavior due to a lack of reproductive health literacy. The aim of this study was to analyze the association between HIV literacy and premarital sexual behavior among the Z generation in
Indonesia. Methods: Data from the Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) 2017 was used. A total of 18,103 adolescent samples were analyzed using
a multiple logistic regression model. The dependent variable of this study was premarital sexual behavior, with HIV literacy as the predictor variable. Multivariable analysis controlled for sociodemographic characteristics such as
age, gender, category of residence, last education, and wealth index. Results: Adolescents in the Z generation with a good level of HIV literacy were more likely to engage in premarital sexual behavior (AOR=1.38; 95% CI=1.12-1.70; p:
0.002). Conclusion: HIV literacy was negatively associated with premarital sexual behavior among adolescents in the Z generation in Indonesia.".
