Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of mathematics learning activities of
students in Class III 61 / VII SD Negeri 1 Murau Jambi. The majority of students just sit
listening to the educator's explanation, without doing meaningful activities. The media used is
still conventional (only uses whiteboard media, chalk, textbooks, and student worksheets).
This research was carried out with the aim of increasing mathematics learning activities of
students in the Class III Bukit Murau 1/61 SD Negeri 61 / VII Realistic Mathematics
Education (RME) approach.
This research was included in the classroom action research consisting of two cycles
with the subjects being third grade students of Bukit Murau 1 Elementary School 61 / VII
Jambi and the object was the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. Research
settings used in this study are questionnaire questionnaires, interviews or interviews,
observations. Then the data is analyzed qualitatively.
The results showed that learning activities in the first cycle had an average percentage
of 36.30%. In the second cycle while the average student learning activities in the second
cycle amounted to 80.43% which was already in very good criteria. Based on the results of
interviews students and teachers showed a positive response from students and teachers.
