Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of the
classical guidance service bibliotherapy techniques with lectures in improving the
concentration of student learning. This research is an experimental research using quasi
experimental design which is of the type of nonequivalent control group design. The
population in this study were all students of class IX in SMP Negeri 3 Mlati with a sample
of 20 students each for the experimental group and the control group. Determination of the
sample by purposive sampling that considers several special characteristics. Then the data
collection was carried out using a learning concentration test instrument. Data analysis was
performed using an paired sample t-test formula. The results showed that there were
significant differences in the concentration of student learning based on the classical
guidance intervention of the bibliotherapy technique with lectures. The concentration of
student learning is better after being given the intervention of classical guidance
bibliotherapy techniques rather than lectures.
