Abstract

ABSTRACT
People in Indonesia who experience hypertension from year to year have
increased. The general treatment of hypertension is to use oral antihypertensive
therapy. Complementary therapies are also often used as alternative treatments by
patients. Even in some cases, patients have combined antihypertensive therapy
and complementary therapy to overcome hypertension. Perception is an active
process of immediate realization of an object. This research aims to determine the
perception and external therapy of patients, as well as the relationship between
perception of external therapy in hypertensive patients at Puskesmas Mergangsan,
Kotagede I and Danurejan I Yogyakarta.
The research uses cross-sectional research designs and uses prospective
data. Data retrieval is done by using medical record and interview questionnaire
that has been done validation. The subject of this study a number of 113 patients
with outpatient hypertension in the period of April 2019 with the criteria of the
inclusion of patients diagnosed with hypertension, willing to be the subject of
research, using a combination of antihypertensive therapy and the complementary
therapy of hypertensive to the same purpose at least 2 weeks of use and aged > 18
years to 79 years. Sampling techniques with total sampling techniques. The data
analysis used is Chi-Square.
In this study, the results of patients who had positive perception of
complementary therapeutic use as blood pressure lowering as much as 40 patients
(35.4%) And patients who have a negative perception of complementary
therapeutic use as blood pressure lowering of 73 patients (64.6%). As for patients
with controlled clinical outcomes of 71 patients (62.8%) and patients with
uncontrolled clinical outcomes of 42 patients (37.2%). For analysis use the Chisquare test and obtained the value p < 0.05 ie p = 0,004. The results showed that
there was a relationship between the perception of a patient using a combination
of antihypertensive therapy and complementary therapy to clinical outcomes in
hypertensive patients.
