Abstract
The implementation of the character building in curriculum can be summarized three ways, (1) integrated in lesson, (2) integrated in local containt, and (3) the self inverontmental. This re- search focus on number one option.This research is aimed to develop the teaching learning model Indonesian literature based on character building in SMA – SMK in Klaten regency. The method of this research is R and D. The procedure of this research can be summarized four steps, (1) the exploration step, (2) the development step, (3) the examination model, and (4) the desimination of result of this research. This research working in two years ago. The result of the first year can be summarized as follows, (1), identification of the subject matter of Indonesian literature in SMA- SMK,(2), the analysis of the theoretical of Indonesian literature, (3) the interest, motivation, and literature mastery of the student and the teacher of SMA – SMK in Klaten, (4) the value of charac- ter education to belong the student and the teacher in Klaten. The result of this research in the first year concluded that the teaching learning Indonesian literature based on the character education model in SMA – SMK in Klaten not yet feasible.
