Abstract

The people of Kampung Pitu still hold traditions and culture of their origins until today. Even, they still hold the tradition that in Kampung Pitu cannot be more than 7 (seven) Householders. As a distinctive traditional society, the people of Kampung Pitu have various Traditional Cultural Expression (TCE) which need serious attention from the Government. TCE in Indonesia regulated in Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, which can protect the TCE of Kampung Pitu Society. This research is essential because in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, not so many traditional communities who defend their rights of origin. This research is study with a doctrinal approach and for data collection, both primary and secondary, obtained online and offline, as well as descriptive-qualitative analysis and in final. The result is, the people of Kampung Pitu can be categorized as Indigenous Society who have identity and traditional right over their origins; therefore, they need to be protected to preserve their existence. Even though there is no specific regulation or stipulation from Central to Regional Government regarding Kampung Pitu, but Kampung Pitu has been designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, thus, becomes the basis for the protection of Kampung Pitu.
