Abstract

Waste produced by humans increases everyday, one place that has high potential
for waste production in a city is a college or university campus. There are various
types of garbage coming from people at the campus who have routine activities,
even on holidays. Students are one of the biggest waste producers on campus,
especially inorganic waste in the lecture halls more than any other room. This
study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and
attitudes of students with the volume of waste in the campus V of Ahmad Dahlan
University Yogyakarta. This research was an observational study using cross
sectional design. This type of research was a form of observational (nonexperimental) study which this the variable were measured only once at one time.
The sample of this study were students of campus V in Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta.The results of this study indicated that there was no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of students with the volume of waste in the campus V of Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta. The chi-square test showed the significance value of each variable was equal to 0,000 and 0,227. There was no correlation between the level of knowledge and attitudes of students with the volume of waste in the campus V of Ahmad Dahlan University Yogyakarta.
