Globalization is a reality era that must be faced by every nation. Globalization is a chance and an opportunity, as well as challenges and threats to a nation that wants to increasingly exist among the other nations of the world. For a nation that has been established in all aspects of his state, especially the quality of human resources, technology, education, and economics, as well as mental, will be able to responding globalization well. Will not be easily influenced, even controlled by other nations, but on the contrary they will successfully influence. As for the people who are not yet ready with the human resources, technology, economics, education, will actually be a target for globalization.
In order for a nation to face globalization and to take part in it, then the required human resources global quality and citizen is a citizen who is responsible for fulfilling the requirements of institutional and cultural sake of the greater good for society. As for the nature of responsible citizens is the embodiment of ownership and commitment to the values of the application of active integrative and critical awareness. This critical awareness includes the ability to think independently, critically and constructively, the ability to see the problem in the context of long-term, and make an assessment based on a commitment to long-term public interests. The term global citizen is a term that refers to the level of citizenship. Global Citizen is a level more than the level of communal citizens and nationals.
Feature global citizen is the ownership concept, competence, connection, credibility and global concern .. Citizens are thus citizens who meet the characteristics of global citizens covering both aspects of intellectual, mental intelligence, emotional intelligence and social intelligence, and mastery technology. The higher level of nationality, these characteristics should be increasingly realized and can be implementation. Thus, in order to set up a global citizen to be able to maintain the existence in the global era, needs strengthening character education . strengthening of character education in the course of personality development is done by returning teachers and lecturers as educators is not just teachers, the assessment system be the absolute right of teachers / lecturers, evaluation system emphasizes the affective aspect (oral examination, interview, essay), strengthening the material and material development, reinforcement learning methods, and the strengthening of technological mastery.
