followed by an object. However, in certain syntactic condition, the verb is not followed by an object. It is followed by a complement. The verb in certain circumstances functions as a copular verb since it links the complement—the same as copula—with the subject. Beside SVO construction, the SVC (Subject-Verb-Complement) construction is also commonly produced by English speakers. There are many previous studies on copular verb in English.
