Abstract
Deprivation of women's rights is a form of inequality caused by gender and sexuality. The assumption that women are weak results in inappropriate treatment of women. The research entitled "Deprivation of Women's Rights Portrayed in Sally Nichol's Things A Bright Girl Can Do: Liberal Feminism
Study" shows how perceptions of women in the early nineteen century were considered to have limitations, especially in the fields of education, economics and freedom of expression. However, women try to prove that they have the
capacity to be equal to men.
The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. There are two sources of data, namely primary data and secondary data, primary data comes from the research object in the form of a novel by Sally Nichols entitled Things
A Bright Girl Can Do. Meanwhile, secondary data comes from previous research and other complementary data sources such as websites, journal articles and
books. Reading, understanding and taking notes are the methods used by writers.
The researcher uses Liberal Feminism as the main theoretical basis ininvestigating forms of deprivation of rights in women and how women uphold gender equality.
The results of the research conducted by the researcher include: (1) There are three forms of deprivation of rights against women (deprivation in the fields
of education, economics and freedom of expression). (2) There are several forms of women's efforts to uphold gender equality, including campaigns, demonstrations and civil resistance
