Abstract

Readiness in learning is essential because it affects students’ learning outcomes; one point on readiness students need to have is English speaking skills. This study aims at exploring (1) Readiness of English speaking skills for class XII students to enter the industries at SMKN 1 Langgudu, (2) Speaking ability of the students for class XII to enter industries at SMKN 1 Langgudu, (3) Relationship betweet the students’ readiness of english speaking skill and their speaking ability for class XII students to enter the industries at SMKN 1 Langgudu.
This research used a mixed methods approach. The subject of this research was class XII APHP which consists of 23 students. There were two techniques carried out by researchers in collecting data, namely questionnaires, and documentation. The validity of the questionnaire was measured through expert judgment and reliability using inter-rater reliability. Meanwhile, to analyze the data, researchers used the theory of Miles and Huberman (2014), which included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.
The research findings showed that the students’ readiness were in good category comprising of two students in the category of very good readiness with a percentage of 83.7%, twelve students with good readiness of 63% ≥71%, and nine students with bad readiness of 52% ≥ 62%. There were no students whose readiness was very bad. Hence, it can be seen that students' readiness is in the category of good readiness. Students' speaking skills were in the good category, two students were in the very good category with 82% ≥100%, and twenty-one students were in a good category with a percentage of 63% ≥81%. Finally, there is a relationship between student readiness and speaking skills in class XII APHP students at SMKN 1 Langgudu.
