Abstract

Mastery of students' vocabulary when learning English is still lacking. Vocabulary learning is very important as a first step in the ability to be mastered in learning English. The purpose of this study focuses on students' perceptions of the assessment of each application that is often used during vocabulary learning.
This research uses mixed descriptive, quantitative, and qualitative descriptive methods. The population of this study was Ahmad Dahlan University English Education students class of 2019 who took part in the vocabulary class and the number of samples was 70 students. The instrument used for research was a questionnaire containing 15 statement items and 10 in the form of interview questions that had been validated. Data collection using a questionnaire (close-ended) Likert scale of 1 -5 and interviews through online media applications and analysis using a mixed descriptive method approach (qualitative and quantitative).
The results of this study are 1) The assessment tools that are often used for application tools are Google Classroom (80%) and Zoom Meeting / Google Meet (77.1%) because of the advantages that can be used in distance learning activities so that they are more efficient in terms of time. 2) Vocabulary learning activities using digital assessment tools have the advantage that students find it easier to access and enjoy learning. In addition, the feeling of not getting bored quickly even though learning to use the online system. 3) The impact on learning activities received a good and positive response because digital assessment tools can increase curiosity and maximize vocabulary learning exercises, assisted by digital assessment tools making it easier to measure the level of vocabulary ability. The conclusion of this study is that vocabulary class students prefer learning using digital assessment applications because they are easy to access, can enjoy learning, don't get bored quickly, increase curiosity, and can easily measure the level of vocabulary ability.
