Abstract

Cultural values are the most important thing in the structure of society. Culture contributes to how people live, how they behave, and also influences how they see themselves. Social values are values held by society regarding what they consider right and what they consider bad. To be able to determine good and bad, appropriate or inappropriate, you have to go through a weighing process. An example of a case study can be seen from the semiotic study of the film Kapan Moving House. This research aims to find out how social values in the film Kapan Moving House are represented through signs or symbols and how cultural values in the film Kapan Moving House are represented through signs or symbols.
The method in this research uses qualitative content analysis. The type of research used by the author is content analysis. This analysis is a model used to examine data documentation in the form of text, images, symbols, and so on. This research uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory which divides signs based on symbols, objects and interpretants, known as the triadic triangle.
The results of this research found a lot of data showing the social and cultural values in the film Kapan Moving House. These values include a language system, family attitudes, good manners, obedience to parents, a culture of always being neat and responsible. This can be seen through the data findings that have been presented in the research.
