Abstract

The title of this thesis is “Gabriela’s Persistence To Get The Major Film Role as reflected in Paulo Coelho’s The
Winner Stands Alone: A Psychological Approach”. This research is categorized into library research, which
consists of primary data and secondary data. The primary data of this research are taken from the novel
The Winner Stands Alone by Paulo Coelho, meanwhile the object of this research is the persistence of the
companion character. The secondary data are gained from some books, articles and the internet that are
relevant or supporting the primary data. After analyzing the novel, the researcher finds that; (1) The companion
character of the novel is Gabriela who want to get the major film role and her characterization are patient,
ambitious, optimistic, confident and dreamer. (2) Gabriela has a high persistence, her persistence are she always
trying to get what she wants, she always motivate herself and she keeps focus on her goals. (3) There
are two moral values presented by the novel, namely: (1) to become major film role need skill, hard work, and
persistence. (2) To become successful in life someone must have good skills, confident, strong motivation and
good relationship with other.
